"The release of atom power has changed everything except our way of thinking."

I believe I might have more favorites besides that one.

      Well, there's the crowd pleasing:

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

And I really like these two:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."

"It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education."

A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.

I like all of Al's quotes - this one holds a special place in my heart:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

You have to recall the time and place he was referring to. In principle I agree with this, but sometimes folks you've just go to know where France is on the map.

yup...advanced childhood seems to be the ticket...even if Peter Pan was a girl in drag.. let it not be said that "..I won't grow up" isn' t the battle hymn of the new republic...henceforth let us not quench the flame of youth in the name of "growing up" ...it may just be a bitter old person's jealous revenge...deprive kids of what you cannot have anymore... the illuminated may bring light to the subject...casting out dark shadows of fear and ignorance !! Boo !!

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

I have more Einstein quotes on my profile page - people.tribe.net/darklingthrush
  • Ahh.... the things we believe...it' s like what that the "Supermoron " ( a psychiatric term for one step up from a moron) said to the moron... "you wouldn't understand..it's above you ! " and so the dance begins for superiority and intellectual snobbery....when in actuallity what is illustrated to a knowing person...is that the Supermoron lacks the communicative skills to explain it...still think tesla was smarter...he didn't talk much but he sure created a lot !! So let us really step out of line, from the rank and file...and come up with our own quotes...oh and make sure it is free from brain stem automation...or cookie cutter cuteness !!

There are quite a lot of good quotes from Einstien.Few of my favourites are below.

"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love."

"A person starts to live when he can live outside himself."

"I am convinced that He (God) does not play dice."

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind."

"Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen."

I love so many of the things Einstein said, but that one always gets me -

"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love."

No, Albert, that would be *biology*. You should branch out more.

i love this one...the sex life of an amoeba...or what's the chemical equivalent of narcolepsy? poor eensteen (not a typo...just another misspelling?) investigating the unseen and then formulating it into a form everyone can remember... ok so he missed the unified field theory but i would hardly call his mind limited...biochemistry (not biology) may explain the process we experience as "Love"...but it can' t measure the treasure of sharing that love with another as for "falling"...it may only be our defenses that fall !! being vulnerable is a big part of the process...and that is scary to many..trust is a big issue..in the tissue (flesh) war...it may be that "gravity" as we think it exists, may be another illusion...so much for falling (on your head)

    Albert Einstein

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.
