Re: My favorite quote of this genius
Mon, May 7, 2007 - 8:50 AMI believe Einstein also said something to the effect that 'the invention of the atom bomb changes everything except human nature'. I have been unable to find this on the web but if you have the quote or know where to find it it might make a good post. In addition to being a great physicist Einstein was also committed to human rights. Something too few people know.

Re: My favorite quote of this genius
Wed, May 16, 2007 - 6:09 PMI have a whole collection of quotes from Albert Einstein on my profile page (and Albert Schweitzer, a contemporary, said some equally brilliant things), but my favorite continues to be:
"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
