I love it and hate it when people try to tell me he loved religion.

So, I have a son who is now 8. He is dyslexic and brilliant! He is keenly aware that he is the only kid in his 3rd grade who doesn't read. Needless to say, thil awareness has done a number on his self esteem. We have chatted a few times over the summer about Einstein, the fact that he didn't set the world on fire in elementary school. that he is universally regarded as a very intelligent man. What I would greatly appreciate are stories, quotes etc that illustrate his path from marginal reader/scholar to the intellectual he became.

Our son is in a good place right now, but then school just started a couple weeks ago. If it like years in the past, he will need additional encouragement as the year goes on. I thank you in advance.

"God doesn't play dice."

Yet Einstein failed to produce a unified field theory, that would unite The General Theory of Relativity with The Special Theory of Relativity. And he never was able to explain the properties of the incredibly small, unless, of course, you include light(photons).

Quantum Theory explains matter at the subatomic level, but can not handle Gravity, for example, or anything large.

String Theory promises to unify all, explaining the genesis of all four forces of nature: Gravity, the Strong Force, the Weak Force, and electromagnitism. I'm skeptical, for now we have the "Dark Force" tearing Space-Time asunder.

You know what happened to the Angel who dared to peep too deep? His eyes got burned out!

http://www.messiahlutheransterling.org/symbol24.asp

The symbol of ST. JOHN is the eagle, because from first to last his Gospel soars on eagle's wings to the very throne of heaven. The figures near the bottom of each window are merely decorative.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-14, NKJV).

Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” (John 20:17, NIV).

This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true. Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. (John 21:24-25, ESV).

THE NOTHING / MATRIX HAS YOU

36 hours later .... NO DONATIONS SO FAR

Life is getting tricky again / worse than usual

With no donations, I have to decide whether to
cancel the website, or not be able to eat in a
week's time when my monthly payment is taken
for http://www.worldgathering.net

One reason I feel 'World Gathering' may be worth
pursuing is because two days after launching 'World
Gathering 25/26 August 2007' - on May 1st - the
power of the directed energy attack on me doubled.

This increase in harassment seemed to tell me
that there are things 'they' do not want me to do.
The truth is, though, whenever I do any large
postings on the Internet, the power of the laser,
microwave, pulse, sonic, or whatever it is, increases.

'They' just do not want me to communicate with
many other people.

Why are they worrying?

So far, hardly anyone seems interested in the
World Gathering.

A few weeks ago quite a large number of people
were copying World Gathering posters and banners
onto their websites and blogs. But I didn't really
receive feedback from anyone, saying it’s a great
idea, or promising organisation of a local supporting
event for 25/26 August.

I get a spooky feeling.

I was bankrupted in 2004 by four years of targeting,
24/7, by severe amounts of directed energy (my eyesight
went bad and I could hardly walk on many days). I was
therefore made homeless in 2004 and had my full time
attention on the Internet diverted.

The spooky feeling I get is that the world seems to
have disappeared in the three years I have been pushed
off the Net.

People won't participate.

People won't encourage other people.

People won't give donations.
(In the past three years, I have received three
donations via the Internet ... in that time many
millions of people have benefited from the information
I left on the Net and duplicated at perhaps 200+
other websites.... not a very good 'energy exchange',
is it?)

It feels like 'The Nothing' has rendered people useless.

It looks like people are lost in The Matrix.

I think the massive Chemtrail Spraying has perhaps
made most people even more apathetic than they were
three years ago.

Perhaps that is why the World Gathering 25/26 August
2007 would be important .... to help people waken up
again. And to warn the world about the 'Nothing'
spraying......

As the late Hopi elder Dan Evehema said:
We must unite for our SURVIVAL.

But .................... NO donations so far.
>
> "We must do what we conceive to be the right
> thing and not bother our heads or burden our
> souls with whether we will be successful.
> Because if we don't do the right thing, we
> will be doing the wrong thing and we will just
> be a part of the disease and not a part of
> the cure." - E. F. Schumacher
>
> "Each of us is put here in this time and this
> place to personally decide the future of humankind.
> Did you think you were put here for something
> less?" - Chief Arvol Looking Horse
>
> "To be yourself, in a world that tries, night
> and day, to make you just like everybody else
> - is to fight the greatest battle there ever
> is to fight, and never stop fighting."
> - e. e. cummings
>
> "We are at the final stages now ... so as our
> prophecy says. Then it must be up to the people
> with pure hearts that will not be afraid to
> help us to fulfil our destiny in peace for
> this world" - Dan Evehema, late Hopi elder
>
> "Learn to listen to the voice of truth which
> is within you and will lead you onto the path
> of evolution. This is our message to you,
> our dear friends. We have watched you growing
> for many years, just as you have watched our
> lights in the sky. You know now that we are
> here and that there are more beings on and
> around your Earth than your scientists care
> to admit. We are deeply concerned about you
> and your path towards the light and we will
> do all that we can to help you."
> --- This is the ending of the 1977 'Voice-Over
> Message' in the UK. Millions of TV viewers
> in southern England heard a voice give this
> message while normal TV pictures were shown.
> TV engineers struggled to stop the audio
> broadcast, but failed. A similar TV voice-over
> happened in the USA within a year or two
> of the above message.

Einstein becoming wise in his old days

This man was simply genious and this is already something to be simple and a genious in the same time. He came through using the mental capacity fully to the borders of it and at this point came accros that what goes beyond matter, the spiritual. He had some phantastic insights, so in his old days he became intrested in the world of the mysterious...
That's the greatness in science, if scientists really go totally deep into it they come to the borders of this world and there it crosses the spiritual world...

just browsing through and saw this tribe. not a big physics buff. love the philosophy not the technicalities. but just to note why i'm here:
everyday for a couple months while in berlin, i walked through the lecture hall in which einstein delivered his theory of relativity for the first time. at lunch, i'd sit and imagine the stuffy pre-war germans entertaining einstein's ideas. berlin was a cosmopolitan city, very ecclectic and open-minded. true there were complicit co-conspirators throughout germany (and in the US for that matter) but berliners nowadays w/o pretenses miss their einstein and regret the fate of their finest minds. physics is the art of explaining reality and einstein was a master. cheers!

Einstein time travel theory?

In a recent installment of the comic strip "Non Sequitor", they claimed that Einstein asserted that time travel to the past is possible while time travel to future is not. Something about the future not existing yet. But according my knowledge of Einstein's theories, there is no mention of time travel (Unless you count time dilation. But of course that's not time travel in the sense that you can return to the time of your origin.) So the question of the moment is, what was up with that stuff

Einstein's Last Published Paper?

I recently saw a Discovery show about Einstein and his later years, and they talked about the last paper he published - the one that was supposed to be his Unified Field Theory that didn't end up working out.

Does anybody know of a link to a translation of the published paper in English? I actually hadn't heard of this failed published theory of his until that Discovery show ! Apparently it was a big deal, high-profile department stores even posting the six pages of the paper in their windows, and a big media frenzy.

Thanks for any info!

Size matters?

In 1924 Lenin suffered a stroke and the Brain Institute was founded to uncover the mystery of ‘genius’. Ofcourse the verdict came back that he was a *super brain*, making sure his icon status was suitably left intact.

After Einstein died in 1955, his brain was also dissected carefully to uncover the mystery of what makes a 'genius'.
It appears his brain was 15% wider than other brains allowing better connections between neurons important for math and spatial reasoning.
Uniquely, Einstein's brain also lacked a groove, where most 'normal' brains had one. The researchers suggested that its absence may have allowed the neurons to communicate much more easily.
The parietal lobes, located behind the brain’s frontal lobes, have been linked with various kinds of higher-level thinking, including processing of visual information, mathematics, language and music. A missing groove might have allowed Einstein’s brain to form more connections between neurons in this region.

But whatever the weight, size or shape, the most important question may be why we perform these analyses at all, and what we really hope to find.

Just as Einstein captured the essence of energy, so we seek to capture the essence of genius. Our pursuit perhaps reveals more about ourselves than about the nature of genius.
We seem to want reassurance of the vastness of human potential. But who can say where genius lies or if it can be located and measured at all.
Perhaps we must accept the reality, just as we have had to accept a cosmic speed limit, that genius cannot be measured, that the processes by which some human brains create revolutionary insights reflect the intermingling of culture, history, and life experience and not simply the amount of gray matter. The insights into genius will likely not be found in finer slicing, but rather, like Einstein's theories, in some more unifying model.

Hello from your absentee moderator.

Two members of this tribe recently brought to my attention (thank you!) the unpleasant and off-topic messages that were recently posted by a particular member of the tribe. That member has been removed from the tribe. Please let me know if he returns, and I will ask tribe.net to ban him permanently.

I believe I have found and deleted all the messages in question, including a few related (and therefore also off-topic) messages written by other members. I have allowed some messages by the deleted member, which I deemed inoffensive, to remain. Please let me know if I left some messages by him or any other member, which you consider inappropriate.

I'm sorry to interrupt your discussion with this message, but I never delete any message from the tribes I moderate without posting an explanation of what I did, and why.

I wish I had time to keep up with the tribe--some of what I've read today was fascinating.

You may now carry on with your regularly scheduled contemplation.

Albert Einstein was a gifted writer and speaker, both in his scientific and his personal spheres. Drawn from letters, speeches, and interviews over the decades before his death in 1955, the quotes we share in this feature offer a stimulating peek inside the mind of history's most beloved scientist. His concern for humanity, his humor, and above all his lifelong focus on higher intellectual ideals shine forth in these brief snippets presented in this interactive by Nova ... http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/einstein/wisd-flash.html

Does evil exist? Did God create evil?

A University professor challenged his students with
this question.

"Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

"Yes sir", the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything,
then God created evil, since evil exists, and
according to the principal that our works define who
we are, then God is evil."

The student became quiet before such an answer. The
professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the
students that he had proven once more that the
Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask
you a question professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor does cold
exist?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists.!
Have you never been cold?" The students snickered at
the young man's question.

The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not
exist. According to the laws of physics, what we
consider cold is in reality the absence of heat.
Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it
has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body
or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero
(-460? F) is the total absence of heat; all matter
becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that
temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this
word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."

The student continued, "Professor, does darkness
exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir,
darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality
the absence of light. Light we can study, but not
darkness. In fact we can use Newton 's prism to break
white light into many colors and study the various
wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure
darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world
of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how
dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of
light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term
used by man to describe what happens when there is no
light present."

Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does
evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course as
I have already said. We see it everyday. It is in the
daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the
multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the
world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir,
or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is
simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness
and cold, a word that man has created to describe the
absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the
result of what happens when man does not have God's
love present in his heart. It's like the cold that
comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes
when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

The young man's name -- Albert Einstein
If you have a pencil...

If you have a pencil, and you move it, is it still stationary?
... and if you *don't* move it, is it "still" stationary?

And since everything is always moving relative to something else -- even if every body in the universe stopped, the kinetik movement that we call heat would still result in movement relative to something else (and if there were no heat left in the universe then is there still such thing as stationary??) -- could we not say that a pencil is both stationary and non stationary AT THE SAME TIME!!!

It's a paradox.... Bet Einstein never thought of that...

There is a special worldwide webcast happening today to celebrate the
World Year of Physics and the 100th anniversary of Einstein's Miracle Year.

This is a really unique thing, involving different labs and institutions all
over the world, including CERN, Fermilab, SLAC, the Exploratorium in
San Francisco, Tasmania, Antarctica and Imperial College in London.

I think that there's only 4-5 hours left, but you can get the saved
webcasts...

Einstein's Assumption Proves Itself

A thought for all those who claim that Relativity proves that "nothing exceeds the velocity of light" might be that Einstein based his equations entirely on the Lorentz-Fitzgerald contraction equation, which previously assumes that nothing exceeds lightspeed, because if it did, the denominator of the equation goes to 0.

You all know what I am talking about, right?

So, of course if you assume nothing can exceed c (186,282 mps), then you can prove that nothing exceeds c.

This is only a tautology of the form If A then A.

Can anyone show me the flaw in my argument? I have read a fair bit on Relativity, and I have seen the complete set of equations and tensor algebra that Einstein uses to derive E=mc^2
from the Lorentz equation.

I know that the Lorentz equation has repeatedly proved to be very accurate, but does that make it perfect? And doesn't it still mean that Einstein is already assuming that which he seems to prove?

I am somewhat convinced that I have found a logical flaw in the equations, here, and would be interested in other people's opinions on this.

My view is that Einstein's work was a tremendous advance, but that, like F=ma (which is an equation that has flaws), E=mc^2 has to have some flaws, too. Perhaps in another hundred or so years we'll have a better answer.

Thoughts, please?

Written by Steven Weinberg, so of course there's a proaganda blurb for Zionism snuck in at at the end, but then what would one expect from a fanatic?

Einstein actually is on the record for having condemned Jewish terrorism in Palestine and denounced people like Begin by name.

What does E=mc2 really mean?

Dear Einstein Tribe Members:

We're all here because we are interested in talking about and learning more about the 100-year-old E=mc2 equation, and what is considered by many to be Einstein's greatest achievement --the theory of general relativity.

The influence that Albert Einstein has had on our world view, is the basis for many of the wonderful dialogs that we've had here. But we humans have only barely begun to understand the secrets of the stars, and the amount of energy that is wrapped up in every atom of matter. Indeed, our curiosity about the possibility of time-travel, as exemplified by the spin-offs to Einstein's "time-dilation" / "twin paradox" concepts... empowers us to look beyond the purely scientific view point, and wonder how our sci-fi speculations might actually be brought about in reality.

Nevertheless, it is necessary to seek authoritative science knowledge, rather than attribute 'hear-say' or anecdotal philosophy as a foundation for such discussions. A desire to work --either independently or as a group-- on gaining familiarity with the types of thinking that have the ability to change the way that we see the world, is what motivates many of us to post and/or respond to each topic of interest as it is posted.

If the best results of these conversations, stimulate each and any of us to take steps to learn more about the subject matter, then the Einstein tribe is certainly a vivid example of interactive, and participatory educational endeavor. You should all be proud to be a part of this, and share as much as possible about why and how this entire area of knowledge is so fascinating to you.

So, having said all of that...

I'd like to share the following:

On Tuesday, Oct 11, Nova/PBS will be airing a special about Einstein's big breakthrough: "Einstein's Big Idea - The Story Behind the World's Most Famous Equation, E=mc2".
Meetings With Three Spacecraft.

---------------

These are extracts:

1986 - February
My first face-to-craft meeting with a spacecraft (actually, THREE CRAFT).
----- I had just given my first one-day workshop, at March House, Ogbourne Saint George, near Marlborough, Wiltshire. It had gone well. On the Monday morning we had a group session with local psychic, Isabelle Kingston. This went well too, I was getting encouraging messages and ideas from all manner of people and places. My confidence was good. After Isy's session, I thought on my way back to Somerset I would call in at Warminster, a place well-known for UFO sightings, and check out whether 'ET' and UFOs really exist.
I drove through Warminster, up towards the start of the fenced-off, huge army training area of Salisbury Plain. I sat and just relaxed my mind. After a while I had the impression ET really did exist, so in my mind I said, "Don't bother coming out of your way to appear for me, you probably have far more important things to do". Then I switched on my engine and started driving back west towards Somerset.
After about ten minutes, I noticed a red light over to the north keeping pace with me, it was followed by a second red light, then a third red light. The next thing was they were veering towards me, then they went over my car at about 50 feet. I was excited. I swerved the car onto the grass verge, and got quickly out of the car. Three, disc craft, of approximately 23 feet in diameter were hovering close to me. They were at an elevation angle of approx 45 degrees, and were only about 60 feet away, i.e. they were VERY close! Around the mid section of each craft was a continuous line of windows. I did not see anyone at the windows, but I felt a communication coming from the ship; the communication did not come to my head and mind, but seemed to connect to the middle of my chest. This was undoubtedly a most wonderful experience.
The three craft started to move off, back to the south-east. I quickly got back into my car and accelerated off in the direction they had gone. A minute or two later I had caught up with them; looking up through the windscreen, the 3 craft were moving gently side-to-side as they progressed on their way. The road started going uphill, to the entrance to Longleat House. Looking across and downhill a little, I saw the 3 craft going past the foot of Cley Hill, at this time a little, white light came up behind the group of three, and entered the trailing disc craft.
We parted company as I drove through Warminster. I felt I had to go to where I had been parked in my car half an hour before. True enough. The three disc craft were there; they were 100 yards from where I had been parked when I sent them my telepathic message. They were circling a stand of trees, flying beautiful, slow circles around these tall trees.

1988 - July?
I drew a FIVE-circled, Celtic Cross pattern on paper, then that night it flashed at me!
The next night Mary Freeman saw a large spaceship with beam of light at Avebury. (Reported in detail in the 'Marlborough Times' newspaper, Wiltshire, England).
The next day a glorious FIVE-circled Crop Pattern was found at Silbury Hill.
----- One evening, in the summer of 1988, I drew five circles on a piece of paper, to form a Celtic Cross, this is four in a square diamond shape, with the fifth circle placed at the centre. I pinned it on my wall; looking up, later, the five circles appeared to flash at me, fairly vividly.
The following day I drove to Warminster, to visit the place where I had met with the three disc craft in 1986, I drove past Silbury Hill en route to Warminster, then past Silbury Hill again on the way back. When I got back to Ogbourne Saint George, Heather told me a fantastic, five-circled crop pattern had been reported close to Silbury Hill. I drove towards Silbury for the third time that day, and spotted many cars parked on the A4. I climbed up Silbury Hill and sat on the southern edge with many people. Below was a wonderful glinting and burnished set of five circles, making an impressive Celtic Cross (or 'quincunx').
The following week there was a dramatic report in the Marlborough newspaper. It said that late one evening Mary Freeman was driving out of Avebury after visiting friends, things started to fly off her dashboard, looking up she saw, low in the sky and stationary, a large discoid craft, perhaps 100 feet in length. Coming from the craft, and directed down in the direction of Silbury Hill, was a strong beam of light or energy.

1988
My eye exploded for the third time.
----- This awful eye episode lasted three or four weeks. Hell.

However, I had this insight ..................

Insight into a massive 'Atlantis Ending' trauma - applicable to many people I knew.
----- Living in the flat in the top of March House, Ogbourne St. George, my left eye exploded for the third time. Agony. My whole nervous system throughout my body burned. I stood in the bath to run cold water over my burning ankles and feet. This went on for weeks. It was as if a red-hot poker was in my left eye. One night, while standing in the bath, I started going over in my mind the names of scores of alternative therapists I was acquainted with in the U.K. I think I listed well over 100 people. A realisation, or intuition, came to me that all of these people were traumatised from the catastrophic ending of a civilisation on Earth several thousand years ago. (I had further evidence of this catastrophic trauma within most people, in 1995). I had the realisation this was a deeply buried trauma in many people and was so strong it had a very restricting effect on people's consciousness and on their potential to feel alive.

TOTAL RECALL - 'They stole his mind, now he wants it back again'.
----- Somewhere around this time, I had the film 'Total Recall', starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the film there was a colony on Mars. The hero had an implant and an artificial life had been set up for him in order he would forget crucial things he had experienced. But he fights to become conscious; and as an analogy to life on Earth right now where so many people are semi- catatonic, he restores a natural air system to the people on Mars, and people are set free from the dictatorial corporation controlling life on Mars.
On the plastic cover of the Total Recall video were these words: 'They stole his mind, now he wants it back again'. I copied these words off onto a piece of paper and carried them with me for many years. If you read the next several years of my life, you will begin to see why these words are so important.

1989 - November
Back 'down' the Saint Michael Leyline to live near Glastonbury.
----- I found a lovely little cottage, in a winding road called 'Watery Lane', in the locale of Lower Westholme, near Pilton - five miles from Glastonbury Tor. I had some of the loveliest time I had had for a long time cycling and walking these lanes and low hills. It was good to be on my own for awhile.
(May 2005: This website seems to have JUST disappeared! Perhaps it will reappear.)

1990
The Clifton Suspension Bridge incident. The Marconi 'Suicides'.
----- Fortunately the Clifton Suspension Bridge incident, for me, never happened. But it nearly happened, and it did happen for others. For around six or so hours I suddenly had the idea that it would be great if I drove to the Clifton Suspension Bridge, in Bristol, and jumped from the bridge. This would be certain death. However, to go and jump off the bridge was a very powerful idea which had come into my mind. Something was telling me that this wasn't a good thing to do, so I phoned up a couple of friends and asked them what they thought. The same thing happened with both people, first they seemed to tell me it was a bad idea, but then they seemed to go on and finish by saying it was a good idea. My brain, in some way, seemed to be reversing my ability to assess right and wrong. Something else came up that I suddenly had to concentrate on, and this distracted me. But for two or three hours I was very near to driving to Bristol and jumping to my death.
I had an insight or two into this several years later .........

Insight 1) The Marconi 'Suicides'.
----- When my world was falling apart around 1995 and 1996, I had two magazines which helped keep me sane. One was Nexus magazine. And the other was the U.K.'s UFO Magazine. UFO Magazine brought out special issues, covering specific research in detail. One research subject was 'The Marconi Suicides'. This report looked at the apparent suicides, around 1985 to the early 1990s, of approx. 16 scientists and technicians who may all have been connected with the 'Star Wars' project. Many of the deaths were gruesome. One scientist filled his car with cans of petrol and drove full speed into an abandoned cafe, exploding. Another tied long rope around a tree and around his neck, then drove off at full speed. Two scientists or technicians died at the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Two cups were found in one of the men's cars. This was all happening over the time period in which I nearly drove to this bridge, on a very weird impulse. What did I have in common with 'Star Wars' designers? Perhaps we both knew things which the general public is not supposed to know.

Insight 2) The Crop Pattern hoaxing and cover-up
----- Very soon, the 'crop pattern world' was about to be hit. There were suspicious people intermingling with the real crop pattern enthusiasts, and these odd people seemed intent on causing division and argument. Hoaxing of crop patterns was increasing. The key crop pattern researchers were set up in a humiliating situation, with media coverage, which totally soured one person at least, Pat Delgado. Colin Andrews was soon to be visited in the night by a man who seemed to speak with authority, who told Colin that his life would change from that point, and it did. Colin Andrews never made his expected declaration that his research showed the authentic crop patterns were a message from other intelligences who share our universe with us. Colin was also told that other people linked in with the crop pattern phenomenon would be, one by one, 'taken out'. 'Taken out' is what I think was happening to me. I was nearly losing my left eye, nearly lost my life, and very soon I was to lose the friendship of quite a few people who were close to me.
Some of the sabotage of crop patterns and crop pattern enthusiasts was traced back to a fenced-off 'farm', very close to where I was living when I got the mad 'Clifton Suspension Bridge' impulse. In fact I was only about five miles from this 'farm'. What equipment did they have at the farm - did this equipment connect up to the 'Star Wars' satellites? The Star Wars project was completed. There are all manner of satellites (and stealth 'black triangle' craft) up there, in orbit, but we don't know what they are doing or what they are capable of doing.
For more data on the tricks that were played to try to discredit the Crop Pattern phenomenon, see this wonderful book: 'Cosmic Connection: Worldwide Crop Formations and ET Contacts', by Michael Hesemann, first published 1995. My copy is back in the UK and I am presently in North America, otherwise I would reproduce some key facts here; such as on the 'farm' near Shepton Mallett. A lot of dirty tricks were played to try to tarnish a wonderful subject.

1993 - Mid 1993
What world was I in?
----- Sessions with at least two clairvoyants, past-life memories, spaceships flying around, attempts on my life .....
what world was I in? Help!

1993 - Spring
Lived with clairvoyant, Dawn Webb, for three months... Sitting Bull / ETs / Arthurian.
----- This was exciting. Dawn seemed to communicate a lot of interesting information from some other realm. I wrote it all down in a big, blue note book. To begin with the information seemed very genuine. Then I seemed to notice hints that soon I should leave dawn. Indeed, Dawn seemed to be changing character, she seemed to take on the character, in her daily life, of one or two of the characters she was channeling. Dawn told me that she was regularly abused by her father when she was very young, with her mother's knowledge. I think this gave her a split personality. Sometimes she was pretty horrible, and other times nice. [I had never really seen this in a person before. Karen seemed to have a divided mind (her father, ex-merchant navy, was very rough with her as a child), but her mood was generally level; it was just her sudden changes of mind which seemed odd.]
Dawn was channeling all manner of things which felt genuine, seemed to be coming from a good place, and had quite a deep and good effect on me. There was information about an Arthurian connection I had; this seemed remarkable and encouraging. Then there was a lot to do with Sitting Bull, and the mythological native figure, White Buffalo Calf Woman. With WBCW, I felt I could see her form start to twinkle in the room just before Dawn announced she had arrived. (This was the same experience I had with my mother appearing at sessions with Isabelle). This all seemed very meaningful and wonderful, there appeared to be nothing nasty about any of it. And at the time, as we drove around the countryside we were seeing some remarkable things. One thing we were told was 'Many things are not as they seem', and this was being proven true on a few occasions.
[We seemed, however, to get to a point where Dawn seemed to start to be taken over by something which was not so good. Maybe bad forces were trying to come in on similar frequencies and thought patterns that the good forces were using. Like two different people grabbing a loud hailer off each other so they can shout through it.]

1993 - Early May
Dramatic rendezvous with extremely low-flying Spacecraft near Alton Barnes, Wiltshire.
----- In messages received by Dawn, and written down by me, in April, we were told there would be a rendezvous with a spacecraft on the night of the full moon in early May. The way things were feeling to me, this seemed extremely likely. On the day of the full moon, we were in London with some of Dawn's friends; they were very strange people. As we got up onto the M4, in the heart of London, I saw a vivid light to the west, very low, near Heathrow airport. It took us 10 minutes to drive there, and the light stayed constant. When we were at Heathrow, parallel with a runway, the light was alongside us, keeping pace. This was pretty weird. A few years later I read of strange incidents around Heathrow.
We carried on driving westwards along the M4. There seemed to be lights in the sky to the north and to the south which were keeping pace with us. This was getting interesting.
Eventually we turned south, off the motorway. We had the idea to drive to Stonehenge. On the way there we stopped and parked at Woodhenge; looking westwards, we could see a low-level, flickering light that appeared to be zipping all over the place as it processed along its general direction. Ufologists have a name for this type of sighting, but I don't remember it.
We had driven on, I think, to Stonehenge, and were now driving back north. We had passed the turn-off to Woodhenge, and were approaching a triangular road junction at Upavon, just south of Pewsey. My eyes were beginning to close, I was so tired; then, approx. 300 yards in front of us, a craft of around 35 feet diameter, was coming slowly from the west towards the east, and was only at tree-top height! Amazing. We yelled. I pulled in off the road to the right, and we got out of the car. The craft had apparently flipped onto its side, and we saw a vertical circle of white lights, like a small Ferris wheel; this was about 20 white lights in a regular vertical circle. (See later: 'a large circle of white lights' in Douglas Bay, Isle of Man, 1999). Then the lights turned off, or the craft disappeared. We went to the boot of the car to get the a hot drink from the flask, then suddenly the craft was coming straight towards us, and overflew us and the car by about 50 feet. Yippee, amazing stuff.
We had a hot drink of tea, then decided to drive towards Alton Barnes, and the great white horse carving that is in the hillside there. As we approached the area where The Barge public house is, I stopped the car, and walked towards the back of the car. I think we spotted the same thing at the same time; over to the west a craft was slowly approaching us, again at about tree-top height. In the car, Dawn was thinking, "He's going to be beamed up!!!", she told me later. Outside of the car, I was sending and thinking the thought, "Keep going, I am not a good enough person to meet you". The craft carried on over us, flying towards the east.
Dawn and I were on such a high, we decided to drive around the four innermost White Horse hill carvings which make a diamond shape around Avebury Stone Circle, as a celebration. (There are actually eight white horses that make a very revealing pattern around the Avebury area.) Dawn and I were on a high for a week.
We had more sightings, and some very unusual events over the next several weeks. Mind-boggling. perhaps my mind needed boggling, to free it from constricted, left-brain, 20th century thought patterns.
[Note: I have been told there are past reports of 'aircraft that look/behave similar to aircraft, but don't actually seem to be aircraft' in the area of our contact - Upavon, just south of Pewsey. These reports of 'strange aircraft', I was told, date back several decades.]

1993 - Summer
Camped at the Barge Inn, Alton Barnes. Three large craft flew slow overhead.
----- More message were coming through hinting that it would be a good idea if I soon parted from Dawn. In truth, she seemed to be changing character, and into a character I didn't really like. One day I left. As I drove away I suddenly realised the chorus of the song on the cassette player I was singing along to didn't say, 'I can't see my way so clearly', I suddenly realised the chorus was, 'I CAN see my way so clearly'! Around then, a merlin hawk swooped low across in front of my car, and I started to feel wonderful.
I had a large geodesic dome tent (21 feet diameter, by nearly 11 feet tall). I put this up at the back of The Barge Inn at Alton Barnes, in the Pewsey Vale; this is known as the Magic Valley to some people. This was a lovely time, and I felt relaxed. Things were happening. Late one evening, a large craft of approx 50 feet diameter dawdled its way, from the east, slowly over the campsite; I believe other people were seeing this. Then a second craft. Then a third. They moved very peacefully, and I made a drawing of the pattern of the lights on the craft. I think they were easily less than 300 yards from us.

1994 - June
Glastonbury.
----- I was asked to help with events in the Green Field, at the Glastonbury Music Festival. I loaned the big dome tent for a venue where small groups could play, powered by cyclists on static bikes, pedaling. I led a sharing on UFO experiences in the lecture marquee. The organiser of the talk programme told me mine had been the best event held in the marquee. As I walked across to give the talk, I noticed a silvery object floating high above the festival site, it seemed to be a craft. A friend, Nick Ashron, a wonderful slide-guitar player, said he saw his first-ever spacecraft, others saw it too. This happened during the time my geodesic dome tent was being erected the night before the festival began. Many people felt a wonderful peace inside the dome tent, and the tent seemed to be connected with Nick Ashron's sighting.

1995 - October
THREE CRAFT over Saint Andreas Church, in the north of Isle of Man.
----- 1995 was an incredibly depressing year for me. I didn't know what had happened. The bottom seemed to have fallen out of my life, I was now in a swamp, and I seemed to be going further and further down. Perhaps someone or something (actually, I think it was the NWO and/or malevoent Aliens) had put a spell or a curse on me (more realistically, an energy or thought beam, or tracking and harassing equipment), and everything was now going wrong. Feeling like this, one evening I had gone to the Spiritualist Church and then, afterwards, sat on a small wall outside as people were leaving. The two last women leaving the church asked me if I was OK. I said 'Not really', and before I knew it, I was telling them about the three disc craft I had spent 20 minutes with back in 1986. One of the women, Sue, was astonished, and she exclaimed. Then she excitedly said that the previous weekend an amazing thing had happened. Late on the Saturday night Sue had been standing out in her garden when she noticed, way above her home in the village of Andreas, three disc craft moving around the sky. She said the three disc-shaped craft were emitting rainbow-coloured lights. Sue was pretty well jumping up and down with excitement; so perhaps I had been guided intuitively to mention 'my' three craft after all.
Then Sue seemed to be looking off into the distance, I could see she was recalling something. She said she was seeing in her mind thousands of spacecraft, there was a disaster happening on Earth, and the spacecraft were patroling around trying to lift people off, but apparently many people could not be picked up. She said this had happened a long time ago in the past. After a moment, Sue said the same thing will happen now, if we have a disaster, spacecraft will try to take people off but not many will be taken.
As I walked home across the town, I felt wonderful. Suddenly my world made sense; it all fitted together. I was being given information and warnings to pass on to people. I was a part of something that was happening, and the reason it was difficult for me was because just about everyone had forgotten the things they should have remembered.

1995
The carved Norse stone to 'Ragnarok' at Saint Andreas Church.
----- I believe the three craft, with rainbow lights, were flying above the ancient church at Andreas for a reason. Inside the church is a carved, Norse stone which refers to the Norse, mythical battle of 'Ragnarok'. Ragnarok is the final battle in Earth's history between the forces of good and evil. It is meant to be a terrible battle. 'The Gods' may intervene, and assist.

1995 (-1996)
The start of The Battle of Ragnarok.
----- With hindsight, I think the start of the Battle of Ragnarok was around 1996. And was getting near its peak in 2004 when the films of Tolkein's trilogy was completed with, 'The Return of The King' (I took this to be a good sign). People were realising the issue was basically survival. And, in 2004, the film 'King Arthur'. Signs come in the most strange ways. 2005 could be the turning point.

1997 - October?
White Light flew over my taxi, then approx 12 craft at Mount Murray Hotel.

It's rare that a person gets a chance to overturn humanity's conception of the universe.

Albert Einstein

But with five scientific papers submitted in 1905, Albert Einstein managed to do that three times: proving the existence of atoms, uncloaking the bizarre realm of quantum mechanics and overturning views of space and time.

My 4 fundamental questions on free-will, god and omnipotecy

1)Can u define what is god? 2)Is striving to be god-like worthy? 3)Can u outline your reason to live, while being a genetic program?

I think the existense of omnipotent god is immpossible. Because if god can create a stone which he can't lift, he's not omnipotent and if he cant create such a stone he is not omnipotent too. If for eg. i were a god, maybe all laws of physics would obey to me, but what would my own mind obey to? The same laws, which I create? Another god? Does even god have real free-will? Shopenhauer once said: "A man can surely do what he wills to do, but cannot determine what he wills". Humans behave like a program (genetic code) which reacts to its environment and thus we have no free will, we obey laws which produce results dependent on our environment.. 4)I ask can there exist an entity not subject to any laws?

Meaning of AEROPLANE RULE

Definition: "Complexity increases the possibility of failure; a twin-engine aeroplane has twice as many engine problems as a single-engine aeroplane."

By analogy, in both software and electronics, the implication is that simplicity increases robustness and that the right way to build
reliable systems is to put all your eggs in one basket, after making sure that you've built a really *good* basket. While simplicity is a useful design goal, and twin-engine aeroplanes do have twice as many engine problems, the analogy is almost entirely bogus. Commercial passenger aircraft are required to have at least two engines (on different wings or nacelles) so
that the aeroplane can land safely if one
engine fails. As Albert Einstein said, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler".

George brought us peanut butter and 250 other peanut-based products, a new cash crop for the south, and dry roasted nuts. Einstein brought us nuclear weapons and a buncha theories we can't prove or disapprove.

Einstein and String Theory

Here's an article about the Nova special about string theory, "The Elegant Universe" - did anyone else see this? I thought it was AMAZING and truly exceptional. The implications point to a multi-dimensional universe (duh) and all the mysteries that such a concept would entail. I'm a firm believer. Mind-expanding stuff to say the least... Anyone care to discuss?

Scientist's 'Theory of Everything' Could Realize Einstein's Dream
By ARIEL ZILBER
FORWARD CORRESPONDENT
October 31, 2003

Many observers have anointed scientist Brian Greene the intellectual heir to the late Carl Sagan, the famed author, astronomer and television host credited with popularizing science to a mass audience through his 1980 public television series, Cosmos.

"It's very flattering," Greene said of the comparison. "Carl Sagan was a hero of mine growing up. But I don't think anybody can really be measured to him."

Amateurs and science geeks alike can decide for themselves on October 28, when PBS's flagship science documentary series, NOVA, airs the first installment of "The Elegant Universe." Hosted by Greene, the three-part series about "string theory" is based on his best-selling book of the same title, which garnered consideration for the Pulitzer Prize in 2000.

Greene — a professor at Columbia University — hopes to use NOVA to introduce a wide audience to string theory, a "theory of everything" that seeks to reconcile the inherent contradictions of quantum physics and general relativity. Some scientists believe string theory goes a long way toward achieving what Albert Einstein could not, to figure out what the universe is made of.

"It's a theory that's trying to realize Einstein's dream that he sought for many decades," Greene said, "which was to find a unified theory that describes everything in the world — all the forces, all the matter, from one basic idea."

According to Greene, Einstein's findings were impressive insofar as they mainly focused on gravity, whereas string theory seeks to incorporate the theory of gravity with three other forces of the universe: electromagnetic, the "strong" nuclear force (the force of atoms) and the "weak" nuclear force that gives rise to radioactive decay. With the aid of computerized graphics and animation, Greene will attempt in "The Elegant Universe" to explain the nuances of string theory without getting bogged down by scientific jargon.

The universe "is one of those subjects that's so rich, so compelling you don't have to do much beyond getting it out there," he said, "[especially] once people get over the hurdle of not associating science with mathematics. The ideas are out there for anybody to understand."

A native of Manhattan's Upper West Side, Greene grew up literally in the shadow of science — he lived across the street from the original Hayden Planetarium. He received little religious education growing up, but as an adult Greene said that his work has given him a new perspective on Judaism. Rather than science and religion delegitimizing each other, he believes that they can complement each other.

"I work within a framework that has religious overtones, but my perspective is one of a scientist," Greene said. "If you try to take certain religious doctrines literally, then it could be difficult to square it with science as we understand it.

"But if you consider religion as the basic assumption that the universe can be made sense of, that there's a wonderful dovetailing of so many features of the universe that fit together perfectly, then that set of ideas works equally well for science," he continued. "My view is that if what we're doing is revealing a design that was put in by a divine creator, that's fantastic. But it's also possible that all we're doing is revealing fundamental laws that cover the universe, [and] that's all there is — there is no divine creator. And that's okay with me, too."

Einstein must be playing dice with God and looking down at us still trying to disseminate what his genius showed us a century ago. Even with Moore’s law we still try and grasp the earth shattering theories put forth by Al while he sat filtering through other peoples inventions as a "patent slave". Even ,as the tale has it, sipping a cup of tea gave inspiration to a paper “On the Motion of Small Particles Suspended in Liquids at Rest Required by the Molecular-Kinetic Theory of Heat” I wonder if he had cream in that tea? If you have yet to do so you must read the September issue of Scientific American it features our man Al in all his splendor and puts his contributions into a modern day context.

Another time this man (he hadn't spoken for 20 somthing years) wrote on a chalk board that I was 10,000 years old and said genius...had somthing to do with what I said to him at the time and how we interacted.

I can't spell well at all, Im horrible with math and don't really consider myself Genius. I just notice that people tend to respond with "your a genius" due to creative expression and idea.

Newly discovered diary chronicles Einstein's last years

Librarians at Princeton University have discovered a diary written by one of Albert Einstein's closest friends, a woman who recorded the scientist's day-to-day thoughts and activities during the last year and a half of his life.

Albert Einstein and Johanna Fantova spent many enjoyable hours on Lake Carnegie. "Seldom did I see him so gay and in so light a mood as in this strangely primitive little boat," wrote the Princeton librarian, who kept a diary of their conversations.

The diary, written by Johanna Fantova, a former Princeton librarian, relates Einstein's musings on subjects, profound and mundane, from physics and current events to the tribulations of growing old. Fantova, who knew Einstein for more than 25 years, chronicled their regular conversations in more than 200 diary entries.

The above-quoted article continues here...

So Einstein used math to prove that we will probably not be able to travel faster than the speed of light via linear travel. But that does not rule out other methods. What other types of high speed travel do you propose there will be?

My theory is that when we get out into the galaxy we will find that only the primitives actually travel in a ship. A Wrinkle in Time proposed the Tesseract, or the folding or crumpling of time/space, but my thought is this; time is already crumpled, we just need to know where to jump off at (and the technology to be able to penetrate the fabric of space/time.)

I do know that the speed of light will be different in different mediums (which causes refraction in water and lens).

Magueijo's Theory of VSL (Varying Speed of Light)
or the Alternative Speed-of-Light Theory

In the late 1970s, Alan Guth (as a young physicist at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center), created the Theory of Inflation.

This is based on the inconceivably brief instant (a fraction of a nanosecond) right after the Big Bang, where the universe exploded a second time, doubling in size again and again until a cosmos far smaller than a single proton grew to the size of a grapefruit. For the past 20 years this viewpoint (Inflation) has dominated cosmological theory as it explains why the expansion that has happened ever since the Big Bang, is resulting in a universe that looks the way ours does today.

However, Inflation relies on a mysterious inflationary field and a weird antigravity particle called an inflaton...BOTH have which have not proven possible to detect. So there are problems with the Inflation Theory.

Enter Joao Magueijo.
Known for having read his first copy of "The Evolution of Physics", by Albert Einstein and Leopold Infeld, at the age of 11...Magueijo went on to master Einstein's Theory of Relativity when he was just 14. By the time he earned his Ph.D., his work in physics was so impressive that Cambridge awarded him a scholarship which had been previously given to Abdus Salam, a Nobel laureate, and the British physicist Paul Dirac, who helped build quantum theory.

After Cambridge, Magueijo joined the physics faculty of Imperial College in London...collaborating with cosmologist Andreas Albrecht, who was a pivotal contributor to the Theory of Inflation, but who nevertheless wasn't convinced that Inflation held the final answer.

At the time, many theorists felt that cosmic strings --extremely dense threads of matter and energy that may crisscross the universe-- might provide a NONinflationary explanation for the development of the early universe. Ironically, it was a paper written by Magueijo that dealt the death blow to cosmic strings...and no one had ever devised a significant alternative to inflation.

Magueijo decided that there must be a better explanation...and now believes that for a few moments at the beginning of time, the universe's extreme heat made photons (particles of light) zip along at much faster speeds than 186,282 miles per second...at almost infinite velocities. Then, as the universe began to expand and cool, its physical properties abruptly changed, just as water suddenly transforms into ice at the freezing point. When the temperature dropped below a critical transition value, light "froze" at the lower speed we now observe.

This is directly in conflict with the framework of physics and Einstein's Theory of Relativity. So in effect, Magueijo was second-guessing Einstein.

Albrecht and Magueijo assumed their theory affected only the very early universe. Once the speed of light froze at its current rate, the standard rules of phyics would apply. But in that brief initial moment, a variable speed of light would solve two fundamental puzzles of cosmology.

1) The Horizon Problem -
No matter which way astronomers look in the sky, the universe looks the same. Clusters of galaxies sprinkle the cosmos in a remarkably uniform manner.

Einstein theorized that the force of gravity, which determines the arrangement of everything in space, travels at the speed of light.

How could such widely separated regions affect each other when the effects of gravity and other forces wouldn't have enough time to journey across the universe and back?

The Theory of Inflation's answer to this problem, suggests that the regions of the universe once were in direct contact (back when the universe was only a few inches around), and inflation simply blew them up, preserving the overall uniformity that astronomers still see.

Magueijo's VSL Theory offers an easier solution: If light traveled much faster in the early universe, so would effects like gravity and temperature, which could have connected different regions of the cosmos without the need for inflation.
Magueijo says, "A varying speed of light could actually explain where the cosmic unity of the universe comes from."

2) The Problem with balancing the Omega Equation -
Cosmologists say that the shape of the universe is "flat", meaning that it's poised between two extremes:
Eternal Expansion and Imminent Implosion.

(*This relates to other unanswered questions about so-called Dark Matter)

If the universe has LESS matter --and therefore gravity--to brake it's expansion, it would eventually expand to the point where we could no longer see any galaxies outside our own...also known as the 'light death of the universe'.

If the universe has TOO MUCH matter, it would cave in on itself, crushing everything into an infinitely dense speck.

Only a universe with just the right amount of matter and gravity would slow the expansion and reach a state of equilibrium...this is known as the Omega Equation, and is one of the chief things that has come out of the relationships necessary for things like Black Holes to exist.

So this gives us three possibilities corresponding to the shape of the universe...each with a unique geometry that can be described using four-dimensional mathematics. A universe that collapses is the 4-dimensional equivalent of a sphere; a runaway expansion produces a saddle-shaped universe; the third alternative is flat, like an infinite plane.

Either the big crunch or an empty universe are catastrophes.

By vastly increasing the size of the cosmos right after the Big Bang, inflation avoids both catastrophes. It stretches out space-time as if it were being pulled from all directions until it completely flattens out.

At this point Magueijo and Albrecht had to find the answer to how a varying speed of light could possibly affect the flatness of the universe.

to be continued...

The latest issue of Discover magazine is dedicated solely to Einstein and his legacy. I stongly recommend it!

It is also the 100th anniversy of his Special theory of relativity, his work on optics (for which he won the nobel prize), and his analysis of brownian motion that proved the existence and size of atoms.

These 3 papers were an intellectual tour-de-force of incredible proportions. Incredible.

His general theory of relativity game out several years later.

Just wondering if any of you have had the opportunity to read this wonderful lil gem of a book by Alan Lightman? It's based on the dreams Einstein had prior to releasing his theory on time and it's varying dimensions and has got to be "the" most beautiful book I have ever read. Get it if you haven't read it already and spend some wonderful time contemplating each of the dreams based on time. GORGEOUS reading!

I'm quite excited about a substantial new book on 'The Future of Theoretical Physics & Cosmology,' (Cambridge, '03).

A tribute to Stephen Hawking on the occasion of his 60th birthday, this collection of popular essays is one of the finest I've seen, and no wonder. The contributors are Ashtekar, Penrose, Hartle, Isham, Rees, Ellis, Green, Guth, Polchinski, Linde, Israel, Thorne, Witten -- the brightest stars in the firmament, together with a number of lesser known lights who are evidently in ascension.

Topics include quantum gravity, chronology protection, M-theory, back holes and singularities, quantum geometry, "20 years of debate with Stephen," topology change, de Sitter space, branes -- in short, a feast prepared by masters.

There's precious little math, and so no need to be frightened.

I will have more to say about this handsome book later, but my dominant impression is of a truly superb contribution to popular science writing, one that belongs on bookshelves everywhere.

NASA Delays Launch of Einstein Gravity Experiment
Mon 19 April, 2004 19:01

By Broward Liston

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (Reuters) - NASA postponed the launch on Monday of a $700-million satellite mission designed to test an obscure tenet of Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity.

The Gravity Probe B, one of the most precise scientific instruments ever built, had been scheduled to be carried aloft by a Boeing Co Delta 2 at 1:01 p.m. EDT from the rocket range at California's Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Mission controllers at Cape Canaveral, Florida, said the launch was delayed because they could not confirm whether software had been loaded onto the Delta to deal with high upper-level winds and could not answer the question in time to meet a narrow launch window.

"Once you get inside four minutes and you're headed to T-0, if you have a problem you don't have time to discuss it. With a one-second window there was no opportunity to try to resolve this," NASA spokesman George Diller said.

NASA said it would attempt the launch again on Tuesday at 12:57 p.m. EDT.

Einstein developed his mind-bending theories of relativity in the early 20th century, and today those theories are generally accepted, especially as they make their way into such things as medical scanners and the Global Positioning System.

Among the most exotic of Einstein's predictions was that massive bodies -- planets, stars or black holes -- actually twist time and space around as they spin, much like the winds of a tornado.

If Einstein is right, scientists say, the satellite should detect that a small bit of time and space are actually missing from each orbit, something indiscernible to orbiting astronauts but measurable nonetheless.

The satellite, which is to be inserted into a polar orbit, will spend two months getting ready, then 16 months making measurements.

Einstein WAS an ATHEIST!

Since I see some of the people in this tribe are totally misinformed about
if Einstein was an Atheist or not, a letter from him settles the matter.

First, an other "Einstein"
quote:

"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."

Albert Einstein,
(1879-1955).

AND from a letter which Einstein wrote in English, dated 24 March 1954.

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly.

If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

The above letter is included in the book, "Albert Einstein: The Human Side" edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, published by Princeton University Press.

(And this is the letter which I have a photo copy of somewhere in my stuff. It is a type written letter and is signed by Einstein.)

Now who would be LYING about him NOT being an Atheist?

Why it is the religous people who are always going around patting themselves on the back about knowing the truth.

In my 69 years of life, I have found that MOST people who are religious are really
a bunch of HYPOCRITES!

And, they have NO CLUE what the truth is!

Many "sayings" are attributed to Albert Einstein, however the following are actually verified quotes from respected sources:

This was from the first published reference
to E = mc².

"If a body gives off the energy L in the form of radiation, its mass diminishes by L/c²."

Source:
"Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon Its Energy Content?". Annalen der Physik. September 27, 1905.

Energy equivalency : originally, m = L/c², which may be trivially rewritten as E = mc²

Albert had problems with the theories of quantum mechanics, here is the original published quote about his resistance to the idea that God would "throw the dice".
NOTE: this is certainly proof that Einstein was NOT an atheist as some have suggested!

"Quantum mechanics is certainly imposing. But an inner voice tells me that it is not yet the real thing. The theory says a lot, but does not really bring us any closer to the secret of the Old One. I, at any rate, am convinced that He does not throw dice."

He was also a pacifist.

"This topic brings me to that worst outcrop of the herd nature, the military system, which I abhor. That a man can take pleasure in marching in formation to the strains of a band is enough to make me despise him. He has only been given his big brain by mistake; a spinal cord was all he needed. This plague-spot of civilization ought to be abolished with all possible speed. Heroism by order, senseless violence, and all the pestilent nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism--how I hate them!"

Einstein's main cause was Jewish issues--he had a passion to help his people out of the persecution they were enduring. But I was surprized when I recently read that he was a Zionist--Is this true?

I don't know if he believed in God (of course, you don't need to believe in God to be a Zionist) or if he viewed himself as culturally Jewish. I know he believed in life after death (because energy never dies?).

Does anyone know his religious or political beliefs on the issue of Zionism?

Best sources of Einstein information?

Hello all,
I didn't create this tribe because I was any kind of Einstein expert, but rather because I've been very impressed by *everything* I already know about the man, and would like to learn more. Now that we've got a fairly good collection of Einstein fans here, I'd like to ask you all for recommendations. Hopefully some of you will have some good ideas.

What's are, in your opinion, the best NON-FICTION sources (especially books, but top-notch web links are OK) for finding out more about Albert E. on these topics?

a) his scientific accomplishments/discoveries (in a somewhat broad sense, not a pure calculus level, and please let it talk about more than the Theory of Relativity). I have a scientific background, so I'm not scared of forumlae, but am not looking for a scientific treatise.
b) his ideas on politics and philosophy
c) his biographical background and personal story

Any book that combined all three would be a great place to start. I would love to read any personal essays of his as well.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Einstein & dancing

I recently read this Einstein quote somewhere, as with all quotes you find online I wonder if it's real.

"Dancers are the athletes of God."

That does make for stimulating thought vis a vis his other statements on dancing and religion, eh?

I must admit though, the easiest way for me to feel a near-spiritual experience is to dance like crazy (that's the only way I know) for a couple of hours... or maybe that's just the endorphins kicking in?

"Einstein" the play

Fow what it's worth, I spent a few years reading everything written by and about Einstein and then wrote the play that ran on 42nd Street in New York City for 8 months. You can read a little about it at: http://joel.com/einstein.htm
